![]() ![]() Granted this was not the best animal travelogue I’ve read. I don’t know if this book did its job, but the population between wolves and caribou are much better then they were back then. This book, in my opinion, was Mowat’s attempt to educate people and get them to accept that the real evil, the real cause of the decline in Caribou were people themselves. Mowat falls into this as a biologist who was chosen. ![]() Governments sent out biologists to investigate this issue, except that it really was a study in order to understand how many wolves should be killed in order to keep the Caribou thriving. During this time wolves were blamed (among other accusations) for the decline in the Caribou population. People’s perception on wild animals, especially predators like wolves were negative. I think this book was written to get people to change their perspectives on wolves. So, we’re just going to review this book based off of my interpretations. I’ll admit I don’t know the controversy in detail, and I didn’t even know there was a controversy until after I finished reading. Mowat did change a lot of things for the sake of the story. ![]() Now I know that there has been a lot of controversy surrounding this book as apparently, it is not the full truth despite being advertised as such. This is another travelogue based on the study Mowat conducted on the Arctic Wolves. ![]()
